Fort McMurray, AB - The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are thrilled to announce that 20-year-old forward Liam Izyk (Blackie, AB) has committed to attend and play for the Alabama-Huntsville Chargers. Izyk's commitment with the NCAA Division I program will begin next season.

Izyk is currently in his third season with the Oil Barons after graduating from the UFA Bisons Midget AAA program in Strathmore following the 2015-16 season. In 123 games with the Oil Barons over three seasons, Izyk has registered 78 points (20 goals, 58 assists).

"As a coaching staff and an organization, we're extremely excited for Liam," said Head Coach and General Manager Tom Keca. "Liam's a dynamic two way forward that takes many key face offs for us in the offensive and defensive zones."

"He's also a player that has battled through some adversity, having recovered from a significant, long-term ankle injury last season to record 25 points in 33 games so far this season," added Keca. "We wish him all the best with Alabama-Hunstville next year."
