2016 RBC Cup Legacy Scholarship Announced

Lloydminster, AB: A brand new scholarship fund of approximately $60,000, intended to help alumni of Lloydminster Minor Hockey and the Lloydminster Bobcats, has been created with a portion of the proceeds of the 2016 RBC Cup.

A maximum of five scholarships will be distributed annually beginning this year, with the inaugural application deadline coming up on December 15th, 2016. It is expected that the scholarship will last at least twelve years, helping Lloydminster Minor Hockey and Lloydminster Jr. A Bobcats alumni who choose to pursue post-secondary education.

“Thanks to the tremendous support of the community, the 2016 RBC Cup left behind proceeds that have given us the opportunity to create a lasting legacy,” said Bryan Morrison, Co-Chair of the 2016 RBC Cup Host Committee. “With this scholarship fund being open not only to former Bobcats players, but anybody who has been registered with Lloydminster Minor Hockey, the event will continue to have a positive impact for years down the road.”

The scholarship recipients must meet the following criteria:

• All applicants must have been carded by the Lloydminster Jr. A Bobcats and/or played within the LMHA.
• All applicants must be registered or applying to a post-secondary institution.
• All applicants must complete application in full.
• All applicants must include a current academic post-secondary and high school transcript with their application.
• No applicant can win the scholarship more than once.

A selection committee has been created, consisting of Scott Lumbard, the long-time Education Director of the Lloydminster Bobcats, a representative of the Lloydminster RBC Branch, and a member of the Lloydminster Bobcats organization. Up to five scholarship recipients will be selected annually at the discretion of the committee.
