â??D’Amico Commits to Alaska Anchorage

The Okotoks Oilers are pleased to announce that Jared D’Amico has accepted a scholarship offer to attend the University of Alaska-Anchorage. 

D’Amico, a 20-year old goalie from Chestermere, AB, played three seasons with the Oilers.  In 101 career regular season games, D’Amico posted 60 wins (franchise record), 30 losses and 8 overtime losses with a career goals against average of 2.41 and save percentage of .917. 

Based in Anchorage, Alaska, the Seawolves compete in the NCAA D1 WCHA Conference.  D’Amico will become the fourth Oiler to play at Alaska Anchorage along with Quinn Sproule, Curtis Leinweber and Michael Matyas.

Coach James Poole stated, “The Oilers organization would like to congratulate Jared and his family on earning this opportunity.  Jared had a great Junior career with the Oilers and was a big part of the success of our team the past two seasons.  Jared is no doubt ready for the next step in his hockey career and we wish him the best of luck in his future hockey and academic endeavors.” 

Jared is the 6th player from the 2013-2014 Oilers committed to a post-secondary hockey program joining John Edwardh (UMass Lowell), Tariq Hammond (Denver), Rhett Gardner (North Dakota), Ambrose Firkus (Alaska Fairbanks) and Ty Clay (SAIT).
