AJHL Announces 2017-2018 All-League and All-Rookie Teams

The Alberta Junior Hockey League today announced the 2017-2018 Viterra All-League and All-Rookie teams as selected by the General Managers and Coaches of the AJHL.

Four players received unanimous selections to their respective teams (Van Os-Shaw, Bernard-Docker, Curr, Okabe).  Four of the players selected were also recipients of League Awards in 2017-2018 (Van Os-Shaw – MVP / Scoring Leader, Morris – Top Goaltender, Okabe – Rookie of the Year, Bernard-Docker – Outstanding Defenceman). 

The Okotoks Oilers dominated the South Division All-League Team with four of the six roster spots.  In the North Division, the Spruce Grove Saints and Fort McMurray Oil Barons were both represented with dual selections. 

All four finalists for the 2017-2018 AJHL MVP Award were named to the All-League teams (Van Os-Shaw, Bernier, Taupert, Cesana).

The North Division All-Rookie Team also had dual representation from the Fort McMurray Oil Barons, as did the Bonnyville Pontiacs.  Okotoks was again well represented with two selections on the South Division All-Rookie Team.  The Brooks Bandits were also recipients of two spots on the South Division rookie squad.

The four AJHL Rookie of the Year Finalists all earned a nomination to the All-Rookie teams (Okabe, Curr, Blankenburg, Bremer).

Several of the players voted onto the All-League and All-Rookie rosters represented the AJHL on the National and International stage this season.  Three players were members of Team West at the 2017 World Junior A Challenge (Bernard-Docker, Holloway, Lloyd).  NHL Central Scouting also selected three players to participate in the 2018 CJHL Prospects Game (Wong, Boyko, Bernard-Docker).

A total of 11 players selected to represent the All-League and All-Rookie teams have committed to a NCAA College or University (Laderoute, Lloyd, Van Os-Shaw, Conley, Bernard-Docker, Cesana, Wong, Okabe, Blankenburg, Boyko, Holloway).
