AJHL Announces League Schedule for 2015-2016 Season

The Alberta Junior Hockey League has announced the 2015 Pre-Season Schedule and 2015-2016 Regular Season Schedule.  The Pre-Season will include 51 games and begin on August 25th, 2015.  The AJHL Regular Season will open on Friday, September 11th and conclude on March 6th, 2016.

The 2015 Exhibition Season will once again include mini tournaments hosted by the Camrose Kodiaks and Okotoks Oilers from August 27th – 29th.  The Drayton Valley Thunder will have two split-squad teams entered in the Camrose tournament.  The Canmore Eagles and Olds Grizzlys will also play split-squad games on September 1st with games simultaneously in both AJHL communities.

Grande Prairie and Drayton Valley will bring the AJHL to High Level, Alberta for a second consecutive year with pre-season games on September 4th & 5th.   Mayerthorpe, Alberta will also play host to an AJHL exhibition game on September 6th when the Whitecourt Wolverines host the Lloydminster Bobcats.

The 2015-2016 AJHL Regular Season will consist of 16 teams playing 60 games apiece, including 16 games at the 9th Annual AJHL Showcase from October 1st – 3rd, 2015 in the new host community of Camrose, Alberta. 

The season will be filled with exciting events on and off the ice.  The Camrose Kodiaks will host the Andrukow Group Solutions 2nd Annual Harvest Hockey Hooky Game on the afternoon of Friday, November 6th at 2:00pm. The inaugural game last season was a huge success!   The Brooks Bandits will open the New Year with a game on New Year’s Day for the first time.  The Bandits will host the Olds Grizzlys in a 7:00pm match-up on January 1st, 2016.  Stay tuned for more exciting news on these events and others through the AJHL website all season long!

Three AJHL teams will host regular season games outside of their home communities this year.  The Canmore Eagles will take AJHL hockey to the town of Banff, Alberta for a second straight year on December 8th, 2015 when they host the Drumheller Dragons.   The Spruce Grove Saints will host the Drayton Valley Thunder in Swan Hills, Alberta on November 24th, 2015, and the Grande Prairie Storm will host the Spruce Grove Saints in Slave Lake, Alberta on January 12th, 2016.

The Calgary Mustangs will move to the Max Bell Arena for all home games in September and October as its home facility, Father David Bauer Arena, is under maintenance and upgrades.

The 2016 AJHL Gas Drive Playoffs will open on March 10th, 2016.  The top team in each division will receive a first round bye.  The Viterra AJHL South Division and Viterra AJHL North Division will playoff to determine a divisional champion at the conclusion of Round Three.  The North Division Champion and the South Division Champion will then compete in the AJHL Gas Drive Cup Final.

The Lloydminster Bobcats will host the 2016 RBC Cup National Junior A Championship from May 14th – May 21st, 2016.
