The 2013 AJHL Exhibition Season will open tonight with the Dream a Dream Game in Fort McMurray. The Fort McMurray Oil Barons will host the Notre Dame Hounds (SJHL) in the charity game. St. Louis Blues rookie Jaden Schwartz will be the coach of the Notre Dame Hounds in the Dream a Dream Game in Fort McMurray. The game is in memory of Jaden’s sister, Mandi Schwartz, who passed away from acute myeloid leukemia.
The AJHL will kick off it’s 50th season with a number of tournaments in the Pre-Season and will officially open the 2013-2014 regular season on Friday, September 6th. The 2013 Exhibition Season includes tournaments in Okotoks, Calgary and Peace River. The 43 game Exhibition Season will also include match ups between the Lloydminster Bobcats and Fort McMurray Oil Barons against opponents from the SJHL.
The 2013-2014 season marks the 50th anniversary of the AJHL. The League will celebrate its storied history across Alberta with commemorative community presentations, the announcement of the ‘Top 50 Players of All-Time’, a year-long feature to highlight ‘50 Stories of 50 Seasons’, and several unique initiatives.
