AJHL Opens 50th Anniversary Season

The 2013-2014 Regular Season will begin tonight in AJHL communities across the province, marking the official start of the league’s 50th Anniversary season.  Fifteen games will be played throughout opening weekend, including seven games on schedule tonight.

The 2013 RBC Cup Champion Brooks Bandits will begin their season on the road in Camrose.  AJHL Commissioner Ryan Bartoshyk will be in Brooks on Friday, September 13th to raise the 2013 AJHL Gas Drive Cup banner and the 2013 RBC Cup Championship banner when the Bandits take to the ice for their home opener. 

The 2013-2014 AJHL Regular Season will consist of 16 teams, playing 60 games apiece, from September 6th, 2013 to March 2nd, 2014.  The 480 game schedule includes 16 games at the 2013 AJHL Showcase from September 26th – 28th at the TransAlta Tri Leisure Centre in Spruce Grove, Alberta. 

The League will celebrate its storied history across Alberta with commemorative community presentations, the announcement of the ‘Top 50 Players of All-Time’, a year-long feature to highlight ‘50 Stories of 50 Seasons’ and several unique initiatives.

AJHL fans can sign up for AJHL Web TV and access live broadcasts in the 2013-2014 season through fasthockey.com or theajhl.fasthockey.com.  Fans can then buy one or more game credits – a single game ranges from $7.99 (when one game credit is purchased) to $5.99 (when 50 game credits are purchased).   Game credits can be used to watch live games or archives on-demand and never expire.
