The Whitecourt Wolverines are proud to announce that Sam Lawson has committed to SAIT (Southern Alberta Institute of Technology) for the 2014/15 season.
Lawson, a 5 year veteran in the Alberta Junior Hockey League, started his career with the Drumheller Dragons in 2009/2010 and played there until 2012/2013 before being traded to the Grande Prairie Storm. Lawson would get traded one last time in his final season of junior hockey in 2013/2014, in a trade that saw defenseman Dalton Olsen go to Grande Prairie and Lawson to the Whitecourt Wolverines.
With the Wolverines, Lawson would record 7 Goals, 20 Assists and 83 Penalty Minutes in 32 games. The former 7th round pick of the Lethbridge Hurricanes (WHL) in 2008 appeared in 153 games in the AJHL, collecting 36 Goals 53 Assists and 333 Penalty Minutes.
“SAIT was an easy choice for me. It gives me the opportunity to play a high level of hockey at a great program while being able to pursue my Specific academic goals. Ken Babey has been a great support to me in helping me with my future. As for whitecourt I can't say enough good things. From the owner and coaching staff to every single person within the organization I have nothin but respect. It was a great place to play and look forward to watching the wolverines become a dynasty in the AJHL”, stated Sam Lawson.

The Wolverines organization would like to congratulate Sam on receiving this opportunity. Sam has enjoyed a distinguished career in the AJHL,” said Wolverines Head Coach & General Manager Joey Bouchard.
Sam is the sixth player this season from the Wolverines to have a commitment at the University or College Level. Here are the following committed players:
