Austin Plevy Commits to the University of Massachusetts

Brooks, Alberta – The Brooks Bandits are proud to announce that 1994 born Forward Austin Plevy has committed to play for the University of Massachusetts.  Located in Amherst, Mass. the “Minutemen” play in the Hockey East conference under Head Coach John Micheletto.  Austin is the third current Bandit to choose UMass joining Shane Bear and Kyler Nachtigall who made their commitments last season.  In addition he will join former teammates Maddison Smiley and Patrick Lee who are freshmen for the Minutemen this season.

Austin is from Langley, BC and played in the BCHL prior to joining the Bandits at last seasons trade deadline.  He was the Captain of the Chilliwack Chiefs before coming to Brooks and this year has been named an Assistant Captain for the Bandits.  Austin has a successful past in Junior A hockey scoring 186 points to date while currently being tied for the AJHL scoring lead.

Head Coach/GM Ryan Papaioannou – “Austin has been a great player for us since coming across from the BCHL last January.  He brings skill and the ability to make plays along with experience at the junior level.  He plays the game with creativity and has a natural sense offensively.  We are proud of his accomplishments in the AJHL and look forward to him finishing his junior career in Brooks.”
