Bandits lead AJHL final series 3-2
The Brooks Bandits are just one win away from capturing the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) championship trophy.
Both Dakota Mason and R.J. Reed scored and added an assist as the Bandits skated to a 4-1 win over the Fort McMurray Oil Barons Thursday night in Brooks.
The Game 5 victory gives Brooks a 3-2 series lead over the Oil Barons with Game 6 set for Saturday night in Fort McMurray.
Fort McMurray spotted Brooks a 4-0 lead before Colton Parayko spoiled Brooks’ Jan Obernesser’s shutout bid with just 15 seconds left in the contest.
Also scoring for Brooks were Mark Reners and Anthony Petruzzelli.
Obernesser stopped 18 of 19 shots fired his way to earn the win. Oil Barons goalie Brody Hoffman stopped 34 shots in a losing effort.
