Bandits defenceman Ethan Lund commits to Niagara

BROOKS, AB ? The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) are thrilled to announce 2001-born defenceman Ethan Lund has committed to attend and play for Niagara University of the Atlantic Hockey Conference (NCAA Division I).

Lund is in his 3rd year with the Bandits, and has suited up in 110 regular season games, scoring 51 points (7G, 44A) in that time. The Calgary, AB product won an AJHL and National Championship with Brooks during the 2018-19 season. During the 2019-20 campaign, Lund was named to Team Canada West at the 2019 World Junior A Challenge in Dawson Creek, BC.

?Ethan is more than deserving of an opportunity at the next level. He?s compiled a great amount of junior experience with the AJHL playoffs, Doyle Cup, Nationals Championship and the World Junior A Championship,? said Bandits Head Coach and GM, Ryan Papaioannou.

?Always a calming influence to our team, he?s been an Assistant Captain for the last 2 seasons and will take more than just his on-ice play to Niagara. He?s getting a chance to play for a great staff, headed by Jason Lammers and we look forward to watching Ethan?s college career in the near future.”

Lund was recruited out of the Calgary Northwest Athletic Association U18 AAA Flames, joining the Bandits as an affiliate in the 2017-18 season.

Located in Lewiston, New York, the Niagara Purple Eagles play under Head Coach Jason Lammers. Lund is the 13th player from the 2020-21 Bandits roster committed to an NCAA Division I school, joining:
