Bandits Extend Radio Broadcast Agreement Through 2017-18

The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) have extended their broadcast partnership with Newcap Radio’s Q105.7 for two additional seasons, it was announced today.

The agreement will see all regular season and playoff games for the team broadcast live over the air, as well as simulcast online and on mobile devices at, for the 2016-17 and 2017-18 AJHL seasons.

The extension follows the team’s first-ever full-season broadcast schedule in 2015-16, which saw a total of 86 live Bandit broadcasts, the most in team history, as the Bandits won their third AJHL championship.

“We are delighted to be able to extend what has become a spectacularly productive partnership with Newcap,” said Bandits Manager of Communications Tyler King. “In our first season, with the help of our partners, we helped to establish a top-tier junior hockey broadcast product. I look forward to continuing improvements in serving our fans with the best and most entertaining picture of Bandits action in the next two seasons.”

Extensions of the team and radio station’s partnership, like fully-featured pre- and post-game shows, and the weekly Bandits Coach’s Show, will also continue under the agreement, with both Q105.7 and its sister station, The One 101.1 continuing to be represented prominently at Bandit home games as the team’s official radio partners.

King will return for his second season as play-by-play commentator for the Bandits, beginning on Friday, September 16th at 6:45 PM when the Bandits raise their championship banner and host the Okotoks Oilers in their home opener at the Centennial Regional Arena. Ken Fleury will return as lead colour commentator, having now been in the broadcast booth for all three of the Bandits’ league championships.
