Bandits Forward Hunter Wallace Commits to RPI

BROOKS, AB – The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) are pleased to announce 2003-born forward Hunter Wallace has committed to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (NCAA Division I, ECAC Hockey Conference).

Wallace is in his first season with the Bandits, and appeared in all three exhibition games, tallying 4 points (2G, 2A). He’s coming off a 2020-21 season where racked up 15 points (11G, 4A) in 8 games as Captain of the Southwest Cougars in Manitoba U18 AAA League.

“Hunter is an outstanding kid and has been a nice addition to our team. Through training camp and exhibition, he’s shown an ability to utilize speed and impact games offensively,” said Bandits Head Coach and General Manager, Ryan Papaioannou.

“We knew it wouldn’t take long for him to garner NCAA interest and his early season work has been impressive. We are excited to work with him over the next 2 seasons on his personal, academic and athletic development.”

During the 2019-20 season with the Cougars, Wallace finished 3rd in league scoring, racking up 69 points (36G, 33A) in 48 games.

The product of Oak Lake, MB also dressed for Team Manitoba at the 2019 Canada Winter Games, contributing 3 goals in the tournament.

Located in Troy, NY, the RPI Engineers play in the ECAC Hockey Conference under Head Coach Dave Smith. Bandits alumni to play for RPI include Ryan Mahshie, James McIsaac, Jakob Lee and Shane Bear.

Wallace is the 13th Bandit committed to an NCAA Division I School, joining:
