Bandits open South Final against Okotoks on Friday

BROOKS, AB – The Brooks Bandits will open the 2019 Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) South Division Final against the defending South champion Okotoks Oilers on Friday and Saturday night at the Centennial Regional Arena.

It’s the eighth consecutive year that Brooks has qualified for the second-last league playoff round, and the third straight season where the Bandits and Oilers will be the two teams duking it out for a spot in the Inter Pipeline Cup final.

Games 1 and 2 are scheduled for Friday and Saturday night in Brooks, before Games 3 and 4 take place in Okotoks on Monday, April 1st and Tuesday, April 2nd at Pason Centennial Arena. If necessary, Game 5 would be Friday, April 5th in Brooks, Game 6 on Sunday, April 7th in Okotoks, and Game 7 on Tuesday, April 9th in Brooks. All games are scheduled for 7 PM.

The Bandits swept Okotoks 6-0 in the regular season series, a year after the Oilers swept the Bandits in six regular season games in 2017-18, en route to a six-game series win last year. The year prior, the Bandits defeated Okotoks in five games in the division final.

Okotoks swept the Calgary Canucks 3 games to none in the opening round this season before defeating Camrose in five games in round two. Brooks defeated the Canmore Eagles in five games in the division semi, after receiving a first round bye.
