Whitecourt Wolverines forward Jalen Bianchet is the Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week with a league leading seven points (4G, 3A) over three games from February 24th-March 2nd, 2025.
Bianchet (2005) scored two goals and an assist in a 6-2 win over the Bonnyville Pontiacs on February 25th and recorded a second three-point game (2G, 1A) in a 4-2 win versus the Grande Prairie Storm on February 28th, including his third game winning goal of the season. Jalen was selected as the Viterra AJHL Player of the Game in both victories. Bianchet wrapped up the week with his 24th assist of the season in a 5-2 loss to the Storm.
Jalen is in his second season with the Wolverines and currently leads the team with 47 points (23G, 24A) in 47 games, ranking him 11th overall in the AJHL. The Wolverines are first in the Viterra AJHL North Division entering their final five games of the regular season.
The Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week is Storm defenceman Cade Kozak. The 2006-born rookie recorded six points (2G, 4A) over three consecutive games.
Kozak added two assists in an 8-2 victory against the Bonnyville Pontiacs on February 26th, then added another assist in a 4-2 loss versus the Wolverines on February 28th. Cade extended his point streak to three games with two goals and an assist on March 1st as the Storm defeated the Wolverines 5-2 in the second game of a home and home series. He was also named as the Viterra AJHL Player of the Game in the win.
Kozak has 15 points (6G, 9A) in 17 games since joining the Storm in mid-January. The Grande Prairie Storm are second to the Wolverines in the Viterra AJHL North Division with five regular season games remaining.
Bonnyville Pontiacs forward Porter Byrd-Leitner (Colgate University) is the Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week after extending his active point streak to nine games and 16 points.
Byrd-Leitner (2006) collected six points (3G, 3A) in three games last week starting with a goal in a 6-2 loss to the division leading Whitecourt Wolverines on February 25th. Porter scored his second goal of the week the following day in an 8-2 loss to the Grande Prairie Storm. He was named as the Viterra AJHL Player of the Game in both mid-week games. On March 1st, Porter recorded a season-high four-point game (1G, 3A) in a 7-3 win against the visiting Devon Xtreme.
Porter Byrd-Leitner leads the Bonnyville Pontiacs with 46 points (15G, 31A) in 45 games, placing him fourth among AJHL rookies. This is his second Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week award of the season (January 13th-19th, 2025).
The Pontiacs are chasing the final spot in the 2025 Inter Pipeline AJHL Playoffs with five games left on their regular season schedule.
