The Bonnyville Pontiacs organization is thrilled to announce the newest hire in the franchise’s front office.
Michael Menzies began as the new Media Director on Tuesday for the Bonnyville Pontiacs this 2021-2022 season.
Since 2019, Menzies has been the play-by-play voice of the Pontiacs on radio and Lakeland Connect.
“To be a part of the Bonnyville Pontiacs is a cool feeling,” said Michael Menzies. “Having done the play-by-play for the team for two years, I am excited to grow into this new position and make the Pontiacs brand even stronger.”
Menzies moved to Bonnyville in 2018 to begin work as a reporter to complete his Radio and Television diploma at NAIT. He covered local sports, politics, while doing live broadcasts across the Lakeland region. He also volunteers on the Kidsport Bonnyville board.
“Securing a guy like Michael for this position, for us, is a huge game-changer,” said Head Coach and General Manager Rick Swan.
“We’re excited to have him expand our group with our social media platforms, especially as we enter our thirtieth season in Bonnyville.”
Director of Business Operations, Neil Langridge, adds that Menzies will round out a staff that hopes to make this season one of the most memorable yet in Yaks history.
“Michael has a great relationship with our staff. He travels with the team already and will be an asset to our vision moving forward.”
Currently, the Pontiacs coaching staff are on the ice running youth hockey camps in preparation for Main Camp beginning August 27.
The Bonnyville Pontiacs 30th regular season officially begins with the home opener back at the RJ Lalonde Arena against the Lloydminster Bobcats on Friday, September 17.
