OKOTOKS, AB – The Okotoks Oilers of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) are pleased to announce that 2000-born forward Brandon Machado (Airdrie, AB) has committed to attend and play for Royal Military College, in U Sports.
A second-year Oiler, Machado dressed in eight games of the abbreviated 2020-21 season, scoring one goal and three assists. In 2019-20, he joined the team after beginning the year with the Swift Current Broncos of the Western Hockey League, scoring 25 points (11 goals, 14 assists) in 30 games.
“I would like to thank Brandon for his dedication to our team both on and off the ice, as he was a huge part of our success over the last two seasons,” said Head Coach and General Manager Tyler Deis. “Our staff is extremely excited for this new chapter in his life, and the opportunity is well deserved.”
Prior to his time in Okotoks, he played for Saskatoon and Kootenay in the WHL, dressing in 129 total major junior games, after graduating from the UFA Bisons of the Alberta Midget Hockey League (AMHL), where he was the league’s Top Defensive Forward in 2016-17.
Located in Kingston, Ontario, the RMC Paladins compete in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA) conference under former AJHL forward and now-Head Coach Richard Lim.
