Assistant Captain Brayden Labant has received a scholarship to attend the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference. The St.Paul, Alberta native played for three AJHL organizations, but the majority of his time was spent in a Wolverines jersey, where he finished 4th all time in games played with 174.
Brayden compiled 37 points last year while finishing 2nd in goals with 18. Last season Brayden was the team?s MVP.
?Brayden has been the consummate Wolverine; he came to the program as a young player that added energy to our line up everyday,? stated Head Coach Shawn Martin. ?He is leaving as one of the reasons that we had such a strong 2nd half this year, we are very proud of Brayden?s development as a player and a person.”
Brayden had this to say about his commitment, ?I am excited for the opportunity to join the Nait Ooks for this upcoming season. I would like to thank the Whitecourt Wolverines organization for everything they have done for me the last three years which will allow me to continue playing hockey for a great program.”
On behalf of the Wolverines organization we want to congratulate Brayden and his family on this achievement and thank him for his tenure in Whitecourt.
Brayden is the 4th Post secondary commitment the Wolverines have had this season along with:
- Ethan Leyer (St. Cloud)
- Cassidy Bowes (University of Connecticut)
- Adam Sandstrom (NAIT)
