Brian Curran Steps Away from Lloydminster Bobcats

The Lloydminster Bobcats are searching for a new head coach.

On Thursday afternoon a sombre Brian Curran announced he would no longer coach the Lloydminster Bobcats junior A hockey team.

Curran was very humble in thanking the organization as well as Wayne and Barb Russell with Rusway Construction, saying that they took him on at a particularly tough time in his life.

“This is a first-class operation, this is a first-class city, this is a first-class community and there’s a lot of great stories and there’s a lot of people I’m going to miss when I leave here,” he said during a press conference.

“I would like to thank all the investors that saved the Bobcats, I remember not so long ago that we were almost out the door and that was a very special thing to see, an incredible community. I feel very fortunate to be part of this community.”

However, at the age of 48, Curran said he was particularly concerned with life after hockey, as this next contract could be his last as a coach.
