The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are pleased to announce that 19 year old defenceman Brock Maschmeyer (Bruderheim, Alberta) has accepted a scholarship to attend and play for Northern Michigan (NCAA Div. I) in the 2013-2014 season. The Northern Michigan Wildcats play in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA).
Brock is currently completing his 4th year in the Alberta Junior Hockey League where he has amassed 249 games played including 24 goals and 98 assists for 122 points.
He was acquired by the Oil Barons prior to the 2010-2011 season and his impact has been felt on the ice, in the dressing room, and in the community. His hockey skills, compete level, and dedication are a great example for all players to follow.
The Oil Barons organization would like to congratulate Brock and his family and wish him all the best in his future endeavours both academically and athletically.
Brock is the 7th Oil Baron to secure a post-secondary scholarship from this year’s team.
