RJ Reed scored twice and Mark Reners had a goal and two assists as the Brooks Bandits whipped the visiting Olds Grizzlys 7-1 in the opening game of the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s South Division Final Friday.
Dakota Mason, Andy Williams, Dylan Nowakowski and Tanner Hicks also scored for the top-seeded Bandits. Casey Rogers replied for No. 5-seeded Olds.
Game 2 of the series is set for tonight (7 p.m.) in Brooks.
The winner of the South Division Final will claim the title of 2012 Division Champion and advance to the 2012 AJHL Enerflex Cup League Final versus the North Division Champion. The Olds Grizzlys last advanced to the AJHL Final in 1994-1995; an appearance in the League Final would be a first for the Bandits organization.
