The Olds Grizzlys are pleased to announce that 19-year-old forward Connor Buchanan has committed to Arizona State University for the 2011/2012 season.
Connor, playing in his second full year of Junior hockey and his first in Canada in the AJHL, has decided to move forward with his academics and hockey career with the Arizona Sun Devils.
The Arizona State University Sun Devil hockey program is an ACHA Division 1 team. Last season the Sun Devil Div. 1 team ranked 8th in the US among competing teams, which includes universities throughout the United States. Every season the ASU program pushes closer to a National Title, which in turn is attracting players from various parts of Canada and the United States.
“Given the opportunity to play Junior A hockey in Olds was a great experience. The coaching staff and my teammates made me feel right at home within the Grizzly organization. The support of loyal fans and the help of volunteers made the experience truly amazing. Whatever my future endeavours may consist of, I will always feel a part of the Olds Grizzlys,” said Connor Buchanan.
Head Coach Willison added, “The Sun Devil’s will be very pleased with the Leadership and Character that Connor will bring to the locker room not to mention his hard work ethic on and off the ice.”
The Olds Grizzlys would like to thank Tom and Kim Buchanan for all their support throughout the year and Connor for his commitment to the Olds Grizzlys program over the past season and wish him continued success in his academic and athletic pursuits
