Camrose to Host 2012 World Junior Exhibition Game

The Camrose Kodiaks hockey club, in conjunction with Hockey Canada is very proud to announce that Camrose, Alberta has been selected as one of the sites that will be hosting an exhibition game for the upcoming 2012 World Junior Championship.

The details of the game are as follows:

Season ticket holders of the Camrose Kodiaks will have the first opportunity to purchase tickets to this special event. Tickets cost $25 per person and will go on sale today – Tuesday, October 25th at 12:00pm noon. Tickets will be available exclusively to Kodiaks season ticket holders until Tuesday, November 1st at 12:00pm noon. At that point in time, tickets will then become available to the general public.

Non-season ticket holders are invited and encouraged to sign up as Kodiaks season ticket holders, in an effort to gain access to tickets during this special one-week window of opportunity. Please call the Camrose Kodiaks office at 780-679-2603 for more details.

Season ticket holders of the Camrose Kodiaks can purchase tickets to the event by phoning the Kodiaks office at 780-679-2603, or in person – by visiting the Kodiaks office in the Edgeworth Centre in Camrose, between 12:00pm – 4:00pm from Monday through Friday, during this limited time frame. For the first week of exclusivity to season ticket holders, tickets are only available for purchase on the phone or in person at the Kodiaks office. Tickets can be purchased on-line at www.hockeycanada.ca/tickets after 12:00pm noon, on Tuesday, November 1st.

The 2012 World Junior Championship is being held this December / early January in Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta. The Championship features the best under 20-year-old men’s hockey players in the world competing in a ten day event. The event features the ten top countries in junior hockey – which includes Canada, Russia, Switzerland, Latvia, Slovakia, Sweden, Finland, Czech Republic, Denmark, and the United States.

The game in Camrose will feature Switzerland vs. the United States, in an exhibition contest before the start of the round-robin schedule which begins on Boxing Day. The United States won the bronze medal in the 2011 World Junior Championship, and the gold medal in the 2010 World Junior Championship.

In addition to hosting the exhibition game, the Edgeworth Centre in Camrose will also act as the host facility for the pre-competition camp of the United States team. The team will be using Camrose as their home base from Saturday, December 17th until Saturday, December 24th before they depart to Edmonton, where they will be playing all of their round robin games during the 2012 World Junior Championship.

Camrose is one of a select few cities and towns in Alberta that have the privilege of hosting a pre-competition camp and exhibition game for the 2012 World Junior Championship.
