Drayton Valley Thunder captain, Brett Smythe, is the Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week for the week of February 16th – 22nd, 2015. Smythe scored 2 goals, 4 assists and 6 points in 3 games played against North Division foes last week. The Thunder won all three games and extended their current winning streak to 8 games.
Smythe recorded the game winning goal in overtime on February 16th versus Whitecourt and was rewarded as the Viterra AJHL Player of the Game for his 4 point night. The 18 year-old forward followed up with a second consecutive Viterra AJHL Player of the Game selection on February 21st against Fort McMurray.
Brett Smythe (St. Albert, Alberta) is a second year member of the Drayton Valley Thunder and leads the team in scoring with 41 points. Smythe and the Thunder have secured a spot in the 2015 AJHL Gas Drive Playoffs, which commence on March 5th.
