Canalta Hotels Player of the Week & AB Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week

The Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week is Brady Barclay of the Calgary Mustangs.  In three games played last week, Barclay was named the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game twice and recorded 5 points (2 goals, 3 assists).

Barclay scored the only Mustangs goal in a 5-1 loss to the division leading Oilers on Tuesday, November 14th and was recognized as the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game.  On Friday, he contributed to both Mustangs goals by scoring one goal and one assist in a 3-2 loss to the Drumheller Dragons, and received the Star of the Game award for a second straight game.  Brady recorded 2 assists in a 6-1 victory over the Dragons in the second game of the home and home series on Saturday to extend his point streak to four games.

The 19 year-old centre was acquired from the Lloydminster Bobcats in late September and is third in team scoring with 19 points (9 goals, 11 assists).  Barclay and his hometown Mustangs are fourth in the Viterra AJHL South Division Standings with a record of 12-12-2 and are 6-3-1 in their last 10 games.

The Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week is Okotoks Oilers goaltender Riley Morris. In three games for the Oilers from November 13th – 19th, Morris posted a perfect 3-0 record including a shutout win.  He closed the week with a stingy .67 GAA and .973 save percentage. 

Riley Morris turned away 73 of 75 shots on goal over the three games last week against South Division opponents.  He led the Oilers to a 5-1 victory over the Calgary Mustangs on Tuesday, followed by a 5-0 shutout over the Olds Grizzlys on Friday and a 2-1 win over the Calgary Canucks on Sunday.

The 20 year-old goaltender from Calgary, AB is in his fourth season with the Okotoks Oilers.  He holds a record of 5-0-1 in the regular season and a 1.15 GAA.  The Okotoks Oilers are on top of the Viterra AJHL South Division Standings with a record of 20-2-1.
