For the second consecutive week, PJ Marrocco of the Bonnyville Pontiacs is the Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week. Marrocco scored 4 goals and 7 points in three games during the week of November 6th – 12th and extended his current point streak to seven games.
PJ Marrocco scored a goal and an assist in a 6-1 win over Lloydminster on Tuesday. The Edmontonian scored a hattrick on Friday in a 5-4 OT loss to Grande Prairie, and picked up the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game Award. PJ wrapped up the week with one assist in a 5-2 loss to the Whitecourt Wolverines on Sunday afternoon.
Marrocco, 20, leads the AJHL Scoring Race with 38 points (20 goals, 18 assists) and an average of 1.7 points per game. The third year AJHL veteran has scored 16 points in his last 7 games, including two hat tricks and four multipoint games.
Camrose Kodiaks goaltender Griffin Bowerman is the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week. Bowerman was 2-0 for the Kodiaks last week with wins over the South Division’s Brooks Bandits and Drumheller Dragons.
The 17 year-old rookie from Calgary, AB posted a 2.0 GAA and .944 save percentage last week. Bowerman picked up a 3-2 win on Friday night, stopping 35 of 37 shots against the offensively gifted Bandits. On Saturday, he led the Kodiaks to another 3-2 victory with 33 saves against the Dragons.
