The Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week is forward Brandon Biro of the Spruce Grove Saints. Biro recorded 7 points (5G / 2A) in three games played during the week of September 14th – 20th and is tied for first place in the AJHL Scoring Race with 9 points. Biro scored his first AJHL hat trick on September 19th versus the Calgary Canucks in a 4 point game, and was awarded the Viterra Star of the Game Award in consecutive games on September 15th and 18th.
Biro and the Saints have opened the regular season with a 5-0 record and hold first place in the Viterra AJHL North Division Standings. The 17 year-old from Sherwood Park, AB is in his second season with the Saints after capturing the AJHL Rookie of the Year Award in 2014-2015.
The Alberta Junior Hockey League is proud to partner with Alberta Ford Dealers to recognize the Goalie of the Week for the 2015-2016 AJHL Season. Goaltender Ryan Gilchrist has captured the honour for the week of September 14th – 20th with a 2-0 record for the Canmore Eagles.
The 17 year-old rookie blocked 52 of 57 shots in the two games and posted a 2.5 GAA with a save percentage of .912%. Gilchrist (Paradise Valley, AB) and the Eagles won two straight games last week and sit 2-2 on the season.
