Canalta Hotels Player of the Week & AB Ford Defensive Player of the Week

The Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week is Scout Truman of the Drumheller Dragons.  The 17 year-old forward scored 3 goals and recorded 6 points in three games from December 9th ? 15th, and earned his fifth Viterra AJHL Star of the Game award.

Scout Truman (Lethbridge, AB) scored a goal and an assist in each of the Dragons? three games last week, starting with a 5-4 loss to the Camrose Kodiaks on Tuesday night.  Truman scored a goal and assisted on the game winner in a 3-1 win over the Calgary Canucks on Friday and repeated the same performance in a 5-2 win over the Canmore Eagles on Saturday.  Truman was awarded as the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game in Saturday?s victory.

The UMass-Lowell commit is third in team scoring with 31 points (17G, 14A).  Truman and the Dragons are third in the Viterra AJHL South Division standings at 19-13-3.

Bonnyville Pontiacs goaltender Easton Hesse is the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week after posting a 3-0 record in three games versus North Division opponents.

The 19-year old goalie posted a 2.13 GAA and .927 save percentage while recording three consecutive wins for the Pontiacs to build on a four-game win streak.  Hesse was selected as the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game in a 6-4 win over Lloydminster on Wednesday with 28 saves.  The Leduc, AB native stopped 30 of 31 shots on goal Friday night to defeat Drayton Valley 5-1.  Hesse then closed the week with a 4-3 victory versus Fort McMurray Sunday afternoon.

Easton Hesse is third among AJHL goaltenders with a .918 SV% and sixth overall with a 2.65 GAA.  He holds a record of 20-8-2 following his first 30 games of the regular season.  This is Hesse?s second Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week award in 2019-2020, the first coming the week of September 23rd-29th.

The Bonnyville Pontiacs are third in the Viterra AJHL North Division standings at 24-9-2.
