The Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week and the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week both come from the Whitecourt Wolverines after the team recorded four wins against North Division opponents last week.
Forward Kaleb Ergang picked up 8 points (2G, 6A) to earn the honour of Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week and goaltender Vincent Duplessis was 3-0 in net for the Wolverines as the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week.
Kaleb Ergang (Spruce Grove, AB) extended his point streak to six games and 11 points through four games from January 20th ? 26th. The Wolverines defeated the Fort McMurray Oil Barons on January 21st by a score of 3-2 and again on the 26th in a 5-1 game. Ergang recorded an assist in the first win and a goal and one assist in the second win, as well as his 7th Viterra Star of the Game award. On January 22nd, the 19 year-old scored a goal and 2 assists in a 6-3 win over the Bonnyville Pontiacs. The Wolverines were victorious versus Lloydminster on January 25th with Ergang recording another 2 assists in a 4-1 win.
The third year AJHL veteran leads the team in scoring with 44 points (15G, 29A) and is averaging 1.1 points per game through the regular season.
Goaltender Vincent Duplessis posted a 1.99 GAA in three wins for the Wolverines over the week. The 20 year-old stopped 31 of 33 shots versus the Oil Barons on January 21st, made 28 saves on January 22nd against the offensively powered Bonnyville Pontiacs, and allowed just one goal on 21 shots in the final game of the week versus Fort McMurray on January 26th.
In his first season with the Wolverines, Vincent is 6th among AJHL goaltenders with a .908 SV% and 7th overall with a 2.82 GAA.
The Wolverines are 4th in the Viterra AJHL North Division Standings and have compiled a five-game win streak.
