The Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week and Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week both come from the Brooks Bandits as the team continues to build on a 12-game season opening win streak.
Forward Randy Hernández is the Canalta Hotels AJHL Player of the Week for the week of October 7th ? 13th, while defenceman Tim Rego has been selected as the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week.
Hernández, 20, scored 4 goals and 6 assists over three games last week and extended his current goal streak to four games. His week began on Wednesday, October 9th with 2 goals in a 7-0 shutout of the Calgary Canucks. On Friday night, Randy was recognized as the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game when he recorded a career high 5-point game with 1 goal and 4 assists in a 10-1 victory over the Canucks. The weekend finished with a 7-1 win versus the Canmore Eagles and an additional 3 points (1G, 2A) for Hernández.
Randy Hernández is second in team scoring with 19 points (9G, 10A) and tied for 9th overall in AJHL scoring.
Rookie Tim Rego built on his 5-game point streak with 1 goal and 5 assists in three Bandit victories last week. Rego recorded 3 assists versus Calgary on October 9th, his third goal of the season and another assist versus the Canucks on Friday, and his 10th assist of year on Saturday against Canmore.
Rego is 5th in team scoring with 13 points (3G, 10A), second overall in AJHL Rookie scoring, and second among all AJHL Defencemen. The 18 year-old is committed to Holy Cross of the NCAA Division I.
The Brooks Bandits moved into top spot in the CJHL Weekly Rankings on Monday and now boast a 45-game winning streak dated back to November 2018.
