Oliver Chau, 19, recorded 2 assists on January 17th in a 5-2 win over the Camrose Kodiaks. On January 20th, he scored a goal and 2 assists in a 13-1 defeat of the Calgary Mustangs. Chau (Oakville, ON) then added a goal and an assist in a 3-1 victory over the Calgary Canucks on January 21st and was rewarded as the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game.
Chau is third in the AJHL scoring race with 26 goals, 37 assists and 63 points. He leads the league in powerplay goals with 16, double the number of the second place powerplay leader. Chau is averaging 1.5 points per game in his first AJHL season. The Brooks Bandits currently have 4 players in the Top 10 of the AJHL Scoring Race.

Fort McMurray Oil Barons goaltender Eric Szudor is the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week for the week of January 16th – 22nd, 2017. Szudor recorded 3 wins on a swing through the Viterra AJHL South Division over the weekend and closed out the trip with a shutout victory. The 19 year-old stopped 96 of 100 shots and posted a 1.33 GAA.
Eric Szudor (Edmonton, AB) has won 7 consecutive wins for the Oil Barons. He is 18-9-1 on the season with a 2.17 GAA, second among AJHL goaltenders. He has the second most shutouts (4) and is third in the category of save percentage at .924%.
Szudor picked up his fifth Viterra AJHL Player of the Game Award on Sunday, January 22nd when he shutout the Olds Grizzlys. The Oil Barons closed the week on a 9 game winning streak and first in the Viterra AJHL North Division.
