Carmelo Crandell Commits to Colgate University

SHERWOOD PARK, AB: The Sherwood Park Crusaders are proud to announce forward Carmelo Crandell (’05) has committed to Colgate University (NCAA Div. 1) for the 2023/2024 season.

“I am honoured to announce my commitment to play Div 1 hockey at Colgate University,” commented Crandell. “I would like to thank everyone who has supported me on my journey including my family, friends, coaches, and trainers. I look forward to being a part of such an incredible program.”

“We couldn’t be happier for Carmelo and his family for earning a commitment to Colgate University,” Crusaders head coach Evan McFeeters stated. “Carmelo is a dedicated student-athlete and he has developed into a difference maker on our team. We look forward to Carmelo continuing as a leader for us and eventually for the Raiders”.

“We are really proud of Carmelo for committing to Colgate,” echoed general manager Adam Sergerie. “He is very deserving of this and we could not be more excited for him. Carmelo had a great 16-year-old year where he was an important player for us by the end of last year and we expect him to take the next step in his development this year.

The 2022/2023 season marks Crandell’s second in a Crusaders uniform. In his rookie season, Crandell collected a total of 21 points (9 goals, 12 assists). Prior to joining the Crusaders as a 16-year-old, Crandell played his minor hockey in St. Albert for the Sabers (U15 AAA), Flyers (U16 AAA), and Raiders (U18 AAA).

The Crusaders would like to congratulate Carmelo and the entire Crandell family on his accomplishment.
