The Lloydminster Jr. A Bobcats Hockey Association is proud to announce the team’s transportation partners for the upcoming season.
In what is considered to be a historic announcement for both the Bobcats and the AJHL, the team will be flying to two away games this season for the first time in the team’s 30 year history. On Sunday, October 23rd, the team will be boarding two 18-passenger Courtesy Air airplanes for their afternoon game against the Fort McMurray Oil Barons. On Friday, December 30th, the team will be flying to Grande Prairie for an evening game against the Grande Prairie Storm. The team plans to leave three hours prior to each game before returning home immediately following the conclusion of each game.
“This is another move by our community to step up and ensure the Bobcats are headed in the right direction,” said head coach and general manager Brian Curran. “This partnership will alleviate the long trips and give our boys a better chance of succeeding in their goal to win. Without question it will help me and my scouting staff with recruiting in the future.”
“Having recently moved to town, we were looking at creative ways to get involved around town and help the community,” said Courtesy Air President Jackie Fowler. “Given the recent buzz surrounding the team, we feel that this is a great way to help our new favorite team while also getting our name out there in the community.”
The Bobcats would also like to announce that they will be travelling in a 33-passenger luxury bus to all other road games this year as part of their partnership with Tibear Coach Lines. The team has been given permission to wrap the exterior of the bus, essentially crowning it “The Official Charter of the Lloydminster Jr. A Bobcats.”
The official press conference and photo op will be held on Tuesday, July 26th, at 1:30 PM at Courtesy Air (Hanger 101, Lloydminster Airport). Bobcats coaching staff and players will be in attendance, as well as representatives and vehicles from Courtesy Air and Tibear Coach Lines.
