Chris Collins Commits to U of C

The Okotoks Oilers are pleased to announce that Chris Collins has committed to the University of Calgary for the 2013/2014 hockey season.   The University of Calgary Dinos compete in the CIS – Canada West, claiming 8 Canada West Championships in their programs history.

Chris, a 21-year old forward from Calgary played for the Oilers in the 2012-2013 season after spending his previous three seasons in the WHL with the Chilliwack Bruins and Saskatoon Blades.  Chris had an impressive close to his junior career, posting 32 goals and 72 points in 59 games played, along with leading the AJHL in playoff scoring with 22 points in 16 games played.  As a result of his strong play, Chris was the only player to receive multiple AJHL Player of Week awards to go along with AJHL Player of the Month in February while also being named to the South All-League team.  

Coach James Poole stated, “We feel very fortunate that Chris came back to the AJHL and chose to play with the Oilers, as he ended up being a huge reason behind the Oilers success in 2012-2013.  Chris is exception hockey player that possesses game breaking ability thru his combination of speed, strength and skill.  The University of Calgary will be getting a quality hockey player and quality person that will no doubt make an impact at the CIS level.”
