Assistant Captain Christiano Aiello will play hockey next season at Western University. The Mustangs are lead by long time coach Clarke Singer and play in the OUA West Division of the U-Sports Athletics Association.
The Calgary, ALTA, native had a career year after coming over in a transaction with the Calgary Canucks prior to the start of the 2021-22 season. The “Italian Stallion” finished second in team scoring with 64 points in all 60 games, and also added 11 points in 10 playoff games.
“Christiano came into this season trying to create some options for his hockey future and he did that,” stated Head Coach Shawn Martin.
Martin adds, “We thought he had the opportunity to help our group and he surpassed any expectations that we may have had.”
Christiano had this to say about his commitment, “I am very excited about the opportunity to play at Western where they have not just a great hockey program but a highly regarded education program. I would like to thank my family for their unwavering support, my coaches, billets and the people who work so hard behind the scenes in the Wolverines program.”
On behalf of the Wolverines organization, we want to congratulate Christiano and his family on this achievement and thank him for his tenure in Whitecourt.
Christiano is the 6th post-secondary commitment the Wolverines have had this season:
• Tyler Mahan (RIT)
• Christiano Aeillo (Western University)
• Alex Dominique (Nipissing University)
• Caleb MacDonald (University of Alaska Fairbanks)
• Nicolas Porterfield (Niagara University)
• William Grimard (University of Trois Rivieres)
