CJHL to Introduce New All-Star Recognition Award

CALGARY, Alberta – The Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) will be introducing a new national award starting in 2015 that recognizes the play of the best Junior A talent from across all 10 Junior A leagues during the regular season.

Each year the CJHL will name three Regional All-Star Teams.  The CJHL will honour the top three forwards, top two defensemen and top goaltender for the Eastern, Central and Western Canadian regions.

The East, Central and West All-Star Teams will be chosen from the nominees submitted from each league for the CJHL National Awards, including Most Valuable Player, Top Forward, Top Defenseman and Top Goaltender.  As each league votes for the CJHL National Awards in each category, their votes are tabulated and used as the basis for selecting the East, Central and West All-Star Teams.

  • The East All-Star Team will be selected from the CCHL, QJHL and the MHL.
  • The Central All-Star Team will be selected from the SIJHL, NOJHL and the OJHL.
  • The Western All-Star Team will be selected from the BCHL, AJHL, SJHL and the MJHL.

Each CJHL All-Star will receive an award and recognition for their achievement.  The 2015 CJHL Regional All-Star Teams will be announced after this year’s RBC Cup in mid-May.
