Minnesota Duluth All-American junior left winger Mike Connolly of Calgary, Alberta, has agreed to a free-agent contract with the NHL’s San Jose Sharks and will forgo his final year of eligibility.
Connolly said Wednesday the final details of the contract have yet to be worked out and he’d officially sign within a few days. It’s believed the two-year, entry-level deal will be worth $900,000 per year. He’ll report to the San Jose (Calif.) team for rookie camp in September.
