Camrose, AB – The Camrose Kodiaks are very excited to announce that defenseman Cooper Sharp has committed to Union College (NCAA Div. 1).

Cooper Sharp started as an affiliate for the Camrose Kodiaks last year and played 3 games. This year Cooper has 9 points in 16 games for the Kodiaks. Sharp is born and raised in Camrose, AB and has come up through the Camrose Minor Hockey Association. Cooper grew up with the goal and dream of becoming a Camrose Kodiak while watching the Kodiaks win the AJHL Championship 5 times. Cooper has trusted the coaching staff and the process here in Camrose and he is now reaping the rewards.

Kodiaks Head Coach, Clayton Jardine says, “I am very excited for Cooper. Cooper really took advantage of the Covid years and became one of the best 2005 born defenseman in Western Canada. He has worked for everything that he has earned. We sat down with the Sharps two years ago and laid out a plan and it is exciting to see it all come together. A lot of trust and commitment from both sides was needed and it couldn’t have worked out any better. Cooper is
going to a great school with a great coaching staff”.

Cooper joins other Camrose and surrounding area players such as Ryan Rutz, Riley Ridell, Scott Galenza, Richard Petiot, Mark Szott, Tim Green, Jason Fleck, Andre Blanchette, Dean Petiot, David Jacobsen, Evan Oberg, Sam Jardine, Kenny Bradley, Karl Stollery, Kyler Kupka, Ryan Huolt, Brennan Davis, Jacob Kendall, Allen York, Cody Laskosky and Lane Brockhoff, as local Camrose products that have committed to post secondary college while being a Camrose Kodiak!

The Kodiaks organization would like to congratulate Cooper, his family, and everyone in Camrose that has had a hand in his development.
