Crusaders Back on the Blades

It’s as sure a sign of the impending end of summer as seeing the first leaves turning yellow.

The Sherwood Park Crusaders are back on the ice.

The local Alberta Junior Hockey League club is already back on the blades as it prepares to celebrate its 35th season in the Park.

The Cru held their conditioning camp last week and will begin their proper training camp on Aug. 17 at the Sherwood Park Arena.

“It seems so early, I know,” laughed Crusaders GM and head coach Tim Fragle. “We’ll have a three-day camp and then we start playing exhibition games on Aug. 21. We’re back to guns a’blazing right now.”

It’s definitely an interesting time for the Crusaders who have a ton of holes to fill in their lineup after graduating a ridiculously high 12 players at the end of the 2012-2013 campaign either to age restrictions, college scholarships or moving up to the Western Hockey League.
