The Sherwood Park Crusaders are pleased to announce the hiring of Jeff Woywitka as the club’s new Associate Coach.
The hiring comes after the departure of Assistant Coach Shawn Belle, who accepted a position with the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, to join former Crusader Head Coach Tim Fragle, as an Assistant Coach with the Ooks in the ACAC.
Jeff brings a ton of playing experience to the table, appearing in over 700 Games as a professional, including 278 in the National Hockey League with St. Louis, Dallas and the New York Rangers.
“I’ve always had the idea of teaching and giving back to younger kids, and helping the young guys on and off the ice is what I did even while I was playing. I’ve been good friends with GM Kyle Chase over the years, we’ve stayed in touch and the opportunity arose for me to get in, its going to be a good learning experience.” Says Woywitka.
The Vermillion, AB born will have the duties of running the Defensive core next to Head Coach Adam Manah on the Crusaders bench.
“Jeff brings a wealth of knowledge with his playing experience and background. He will be a great asset on the back end for us in helping develop our Defensemen, and being able to teach them the little details to make us tough to play against.” Said Crusader Head Coach Adam Manah.
“It’s going to be fun working with the Defensemen everyday, giving them lessons they can work on, including the everyday reminders we can get away from and to be a good supporter and mentor.” Added Woywitka.
The Crusaders will open up training camp on August 26th in Sherwood Park and opening the Pre-Season schedule against Kindersley of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League August 31st in Camrose, AB.
