Crusaders Tanner Younghans Commits to NAIT

(Sherwood Park, AB) – The Sherwood Park Crusaders Junior A Hockey Club is pleased to announce that 1996 born Forward Tanner Younghans has committed to the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) of the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) for the 2017-18 Season.

The Leduc, Alberta native is enjoying a career year in his third season in the Alberta Junior Hockey League and first with Sherwood Park.  Heading into February, Tanner is fourth in team scoring with 43 Points, second with 20 Goals and leads the entire AJHL with 7 Game Winning Goals.

“I’ve always looked at NAIT since I was young, both my parents went there and there are a lot of programs that are very suitable for me.  The hockey is very good there, but the big thing is getting my education,” said Younghans.

The AJHL veteran began his junior career with the Camrose Kodiaks in 2014 and was acquired by the Crusaders this past Off Season.

“Tanner is well deserving of this, he’s a great kid and brings a lot of character to our hockey team and he will do no different for the Ooks,” says Crusaders Head Coach Adam Manah.

Younghans will join former Crusader players and current Ooks Brett Magee, Cameron Brezinski and Devon McAndrews at NAIT, along with former Crusader Coaches Tim Fragle and Shawn Belle.

“It’s a great pick up for them.  They are getting a guy that has great work ethic, finishes his checks, plays hard, competes and he has great hands around the net.  He should be a welcome addition to NAIT and can play in any role they chose for him,” added Manah.

With the commitment to NAIT from Younghans, the Crusaders now have two players on their current roster committed to post-secondary institutions for the 2017-18 season as Forward Tyler Maltby is committed to Arizona State of the NCAA.
