Curtis Lewington Commits to the Marian University Sabres

The Fort McMurray Oil Barons are pleased to announce that 20 year old defenceman Curtis Lewington (Calgary, AB) has committed to attend and play for the Marian University Sabres of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) for the upcoming 2014-2015 season.  This NCAA-Division III school is coached by former AJHL Most Valuable Player and former MOB alumni, AJ Aitken.

Curtis was obtained by the Oil Barons this year, his 4th and final season in the Alberta Junior Hockey League.  Over his career, he played in 182 games tallying 11 goals and 42 assists, both in the regular season and playoffs.   He played an important role on the Oil Barons this year by contributing in all aspects of the game.  He was responsible defensively, a great skater, physical, and chipped in offensively as well.

He becomes the 7th Oil Baron from this year’s team to secure a post-secondary scholarship joining; Tanner Jaillet (Denver), Kevin Miller (Ohio State), Alex Cromwell (Providence), Mitch Vanderlaan (Cornell), Brennan Saulnier (Alabama-Huntsville) and Austin Yadlowski (Mount Royal).
