Third-year defenceman Connor James scored the go-ahead and insurance goals in the third period as the Spruce Grove Saints defeated the Bonnyville Pontiacs 3-1 to win the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s North Division final in six games on Sunday.
Jones, who scored only five goals in 41 games during the regular season, broke a 1-1 tie at the 8:19 mark of the final period and then gave the Saints some breathing room when he scored again with 71 seconds remaining.
