The Pizza 73 AJHL Player of the Week is Nicholas DeGraves of the Brooks Bandits. The 2003 forward collected six points (1G, 5A) in two games played at the Annual AJHL Showcase last week in two victories for his club.
DeGraves (Edmonton, AB) added three assists in a 4-1 win over the Whitecourt Wolverines on September 27th, and scored a goal and two assists in on September 30th vs the Okotoks Oilers as the Bandits closed the Showcase with a 5-2 victory.
The Penn State (NCAA Div I) commit is tied for sixth in AJHL scoring and leads his team with ten points (1G, 9A).
Calgary Canucks rookie Nolan Paquette is the Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week. In three games played from September 25th – October 1st, the 2007 born defenceman recorded five points.
Nolan Paquette (Calgary, AB) and the Canucks opened the AJHL Showcase on September 27th with an 8-1 win over the Canmore Eagles with Nolan marking his first of five assists on the week. He added another three assists in the second game of the event in a 5-0 shutout of the Drayton Valley Thunder. Nolan wrapped up the week with an assist in a tight 5-4 win against the Camrose Kodiaks on October 1st.
The Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week is forward Gavin Garland (2006) of the Calgary Canucks. The Nebraska Omaha (NCAA Div I) commit led all rookies last week with six points (4G, 2A) as the Calgary Canucks posted a record of 3-0.
Garland (Calgary, AB) had two multi-point games over the week, recorded goals in all three wins, and has points in his last four consecutive games. Paquette and Garland are tied for second in AJHL rookie scoring and in team scoring with seven points.
