Elliot Dutil (2003) scored two hat tricks in consecutive Bandit wins, starting with a four-point game (3G, 1A) in a 9-0 shutout of the Calgary Canucks on November 22nd. He recorded his second hat trick of the week in a 5-1 win over the Olds Grizzlys on home ice November 25th. Elliot was awarded as the Viterra AJHL Star of the Game in what was his tenth multi-point game of the season.
Dutil (Montreal, QC) is committed to Lindenwood University of the NCAA. In his first AJHL season, he is ninth overall in scoring with 34 points (19G, 15A). The Bandits hold first place in the Viterra AJHL South Division with a record of 28-1-1-1 (W-L-OTL-SOL).
The Alberta Ford Dealers AJHL Defensive Player of the Week is Jack Budd of the Bonnyville Pontiacs. The 2003-born defenceman scored three goals over the weekend and is now tied for most goals by a defenceman this season.
Budd (Toronto, ON) recorded five points (3G, 2A) in a double header versus the Fort McMurray Oil Barons beginning with a three-point (2G, 1A) game on November 25th in a 9-5 win. It was the first two-goal game of the season for Budd. On November 26th, Jack scored the game winning goal and added an assist in the 5-2 victory.
Jack Budd is eight among AJHL defencemen in points with 22 (8G, 14A) and recently committed to Canisius College (NCAA). The Pontiacs sit third in the Viterra AJHL North Division and are 7-3 in their last ten games.
Gavin Middendorf of the Drayton Valley Thunder is the Inter Pipeline AJHL Rookie of the Week. The 2004-born forward registered five points (2G, 3A) during a South Division road trip for the Thunder.
On November 25th, Middendorf recorded his second three-point game of the season with a goal and two assists in an 8-3 win over the Okotoks Oilers to start the three-game South swing. The following night, he scored his 12th goal of the year and added an assist as the Thunder defeated the Calgary Canucks 4-1. The trip concluded with a 5-1 loss in Canmore on November 27th.
Gavin Middendorf (Forest Lake, MN) has 20 points (12G, 8A) in 28 games played during his rookie season and is tied for most game winning goals among rookies with four.
