Eagles Phillips Commits to University of Vermont

The Canmore Eagles of the Alberta Junior Hockey League are very pleased to announce that 20-year-old defenceman Trey Phillips has committed to play for the NCAA Division 1 Vermont Catamounts in the Hockey East Division.

The University of Vermont is located in Burlington, Vermont (42,000 pop) and is scenically located on the shores of Lake Champlain.  NHL hockey stars Patrick Sharp (2002) and Victor Stalberg (2009), are amongst the Catamounts alumni.

Phillips, a native of Okotoks, AB., has played 145 games in an Eagle uniform and has registered 14 goals and 42 assists during the past three seasons. Phillips really came into his own last season as the smooth skating defenceman put up 32 points in just 54 games. Phillips was also just named as an Assistant Captain for the Eagles this season.

“Trey has been a huge part of the organization for the past four seasons, “said Eagles Head Coach and General Manager Andrew Milne. “Trey’s speed and skill, along with his ability to see the ice, have allowed him to develop into an elite defencemen at this level. The entire Eagles organization is extremely happy for Trey and his family.  He has been patient and motivated for the past three seasons and all his hard work has finally paid off. This is a great accomplishment for him and he should be very proud.  Now that he has earned his scholarship for next fall, we look forward to watching him accomplish even more during his last AJHL season.”
