Whitecourt, AB – The Whitecourt Wolverines are proud to announce that 20-year-old forward Elliott Peterson has committed to the University of Saskatchewan (CIS) beginning in the 2016/2017 season.
The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan native Peterson joined the Wolverines in December of this past season after being acquired in a trade from the Nipawin Hawks (SJHL). In limited action with the Wolverines during the regular season Peterson was able to record seven points in 11 games with all his points coming in the final six games of the season.
After being released from the WHL’s Vancouver Giants in November due to what was thought to be a potential season ending injury, Peterson showed off his tremendous work ethic by rehabbing his injury and getting back into the Wolverines lineup before the end of the season. The Wolverines benefited from Peterson’s leadership both on and off the ice.
Peterson will join his hometown University of Saskatchewan Huskies next season as the team defends it’s 2016 Canada West Championship. The Huskies are coached by Dave Adolph who has held the position for over two decades. Under Adolph’s tutelage the Huskies have made the playoffs 18 straight years, winning five conference championships and making 11 University Cup appearances.
The entire Whitecourt Wolverines organization would like to congratulate Elliott and his family on his selection of the University of Saskatchewan for his college experience and wish him all the best in his academics and athletics.
In the last two years the Whitecourt Wolverines have sent 15 players onto collegiate careers at the CIS, ACAC and NCAA level. Elliott is the 8th Wolverine on or previously on this year’s roster to earn a college commitment:
