The Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League are seeking an energetic, outgoing person to serve as the team’s new Manager of Sales and Marketing.
The Bandits are one of the premiere Junior A hockey teams in Canada, boasting an immense fanbase, great local corporate and community support, as well as four league championships in the last six seasons, and a positive and enthusiastic workplace environment.
Reporting to the General Manager, the successful applicant will be responsible for the development, sale, and management of various advertising and sponsorship opportunities, with additional responsibilities in community relations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Plan, coordinate, and implement various advertising sales strategies, including promotion, pricing, distribution, and product development
• Help to design and achieve sales goals and budgets, while modifying and creating new sales inventory
• Maintain customer database for efficient use in direct and targeted marketing campaigns
• General sales leads using creative techniques at various customer touch points
• Create and maintain relationships with area companies and individuals to sell advertising and sponsorships, via the phone and face-to-face presentations
• Identify new business opportunities and actively prospect new sales leads
• Foster, coordinate and maintain excellent working relationships with Brooks and area community groups, including schools and minor hockey organizations
• Coordinate and oversee player appearances in the community
• Provide excellent customer care and quality service
• Assist in the creation of game night promotions, giveaways, and the design of team publications
• Plan, administrate, and oversee team events
• Oversee merchandise and team storefront
• Seek external advertising opportunities and manage existing advertising inventory
• Assist at games and other special events as required
• Participate and contribute to business operations and Board of Directors meetings
• Provide administrative assistance to the General Manager
• Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

• Computer skills, including Microsoft Office and customer database maintenance

• Experience in sales, marketing, hockey, and/or sports industries an asset
• Marketing or sports management educational background an asset
• Graphic design knowledge an asset
This is a full-time, salaried plus sales commission position in the Bandits office at the Centennial Regional Arena, requiring both standard Monday-to-Friday hours and non-standard evening and weekend hours on game days and at team events.
