Final Game in Exhibition Series Between Canada’s National Women’s Team and AJHL Cancelled

Calgary, AB – The final date of a four-game exhibition series between Canada’s National Women’s Team and the Alberta Junior Hockey League has been cancelled.   The game was set to be played on January 10th, 2022 versus the Calgary Canucks.

“We have several athletes currently in COVID protocols, based on our return to play timelines the National Women’s Team isn’t able to play the game on January 10th against the Canucks,” said Gina Kingsbury, director of hockey operations with Hockey Canada.   “As a team we’ve made the difficult decision to not play any games from now until Beijing to mitigate as many risks as we possibly can.”

The initial three games in the series were successfully hosted by the Drumheller Dragons, Olds Grizzlys and Camrose Kodiaks through October and November 2021.

The 2022 Olympic Winter Games begin on February 3rd, 2022, in Beijing, China.   For more information on Hockey Canada and Canada’s National Women’s Team, please visit HockeyCanada.ca.
