Dustin Fostvelt has committed to the Rochester Institute of Technology to play for the Tigers in the upcoming 2013-2014 season. The 20 year old, 3rd year defenseman has had an impressive career with the Saints. In his time with the Saints Dustin has produced 75 points in 170 career regular season games while posting 136 penalty minutes. Fostvelt is a proven playoff performer adding 17 points in 30 career playoff games and that doesn't include his steady contributions in the defensive zone. Dustin was a part of the All Rookie team in his first season and this year was a nominee for the Defenseman of the Year award. He also helped the Saints earn AJHL Championships in 2010 and 2011. The Saints are pleased to know Dustin will be able to continue his hockey career at the Division 1 level while earning a top notch education.
“I am very excited to be a part of the RIT organization next year,” says Fostvelt. It has always been my goal to get a Division 1 scholarship and I just couldn't be happier with my decision to be a Tiger. I would like to thank my friends, family and past coaches for all of their support in getting me to the NCAA.”
“Dustin is an elite puck moving defenseman that is able to close defensively very quickly due to his great skating ability,” says Saints Head Coach and General Manager Jason McKee. “Dustin has played in all key situations for us this season and has had a breakout year. Dustin has worked very hard in achieving his goal of acquiring a post secondary scholarship and the Saints organization is extremely proud that he will be the 5th member of this year's roster that has committed to playing Division 1 hockey this year.”
